WALT write a character description
Pania of the Reef - Character: Pania
On the East coast of the north island in town called Napier. There lived a beautiful young woman called Pania. She had long wavy rainbow hair and her eyes were as light as green grass.
Pania was a graceful creature of the deep dark sea, however she looked like any other person on land. The land fascinated Pania, as she would swim up to the surf to the beach.
During night fall Pania would often hide amongst flax bushes. On one occasion Pania met a young chief and the young chief took Pania hand and led her to the whare.
That night Pania could hear the waves calling her name Pania, Pania Pania. The chief looked and looked for Pania, then finally the chief found Pania.
A year past, Pania had a baby boy named Moremore. When daylight came Pania left Moremore with his father. The chief went to the tribe Tohunga and asked how can I keep Pania and baby Moremore with me. The tribes tohunga said that when they are asleep. The young chief placed cooked food on their bodies and they will never return to the sea.
